A former WWE Champion has commented on a potential WrestleMania 39 rematch at next year’s WrestleMania 40.

WrestleMania 40 is mere months away, taking place at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on April 6 and 7.
Despite being a few months from the show, the company has already started to plant seeds for top matches  for the two-night event.
Rey Mysterio is the current United States Champion, but he has already started thinking about what’s on tap for next year’s Show of Shows.

Speaking with ESPN, Mysterio was asked about his WrestleMania 40 plans. Mentioning that he has thought about a potential WrestleMania 39 rematch against his son Dominik Mysterio, Rey answered:
“I thought about doing Dominik and Rey 2,”
“Something would need to be on the line. Whether I’m still United States Champion or he’s still North American Champion.”
“Something would have to be on the line to make it look or feel, ‘You have to watch this.’ Hair vs. Mask.”

Rey Mysterio is set to defend the United States Championship against Logan Paul on Saturday, November 4 at WWE Crown Jewel.
