Ahead of the All In London 2024 event, former AEW TNT Champion Darby Allin says he “would love to” team with WWE Hall of Famer Sting’s son.
At AEW Revolution, Sting and Darby Allin defeated The Young Bucks to retain the AEW World Tag Team Championships in Sting’s retirement match.
During the bout, Sting’s sons Steven and Garrett Borden made a cameo alongside their father during his entrance and got involved to help him against Matthew and Nicholas Jackson.
Following the Revolution cameo, Steven Borden began training for a wrestling career with Darby.
Speaking to WFFA in a recent interview, Darby Allin commented on how Steven’s training was going. He said:
“He’s doing really good. It’s funny because he’s never had any, like, When it comes to wrestling, he’s never had the itch to be like, I want to be a pro wrestler.”
“So he did that spot in the Sting’s Last Match at Revolution where he splashed one of the young bucks in the corner.”
“Then he just said, Dad, I want to do this. He’s got a good job. He’s got a wife. He’s got a kid. At 32 or 33, to get that wrestling, like, ugh, I want to do this. Sting never thought his son was going to do that.”
On his mindset towards helping Sting’s son, Allin said:
“So it’s like, all right, man. If you’re going to do this, you have to do it right. You have to put everything into it.”
“You’ve got to train your butt off. Because we don’t want to come here and people are like, oh, it was just a handout. Sting’s son just got a handout.”
“He wasn’t really that good in the ring, but he’s Sting’s son, so we’ll give him the pass. No, when he has his first match, I want the people to know, wow, he looks right at home there.”
“He’s going to miss a step. Because there’s a lot of handouts in wrestling. Sting doesn’t want his son to have a handout. I don’t want his son to have a handout.”
“So we’ve got to do it right. In Darby Allin’s training at my house, I have a ring at my house. It’s a little unconventional.”
“We have a lot of crazy challenges outside the ring that we do where we shoot, have him run around the yard, we shoot him with a paintball gun, try to build the pain tolerance to an all-time high.”
On wanting to team with Steven Borden in a full circle moment, Darby said:
“I would love to. It’s like a full circle moment. He didn’t have to team with Darby, but he wanted to. And then just to give his son what he gave me, that would be kind of a cool moment.”
Darby Allin is set to challenge Jack Perry in a Coffin Match for the TNT Championship on Sunday, August 25 at AEW All In London.
