WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER has hit yet another major milestone amid his potentially record-setting title reign.

GUNTHER has been presented as one of the most dominant stars on the WWE roster since defeating Ricochet for the Intercontinental Championship in June 2022.
The Ring General has now held the title for 414 days. This is now the third longest WWE Intercontinental Title reign of all time, passing Randy Savage’s 413 day stint with the gold.
WWE has now shared a graphic celebrating GUNTHER’s reign, which you can view below.

WWE captioned the post:

The only two stars who have held the Intercontinental Championship for longer than GUNTHER in a single reign are Pedro Morales and the Honky Tonk Man.
Morales held the title for 424 days in the 1980s, winning the gold from Don Muraco in November 1981, before dropping the gold back to Muraco in January 1983.

If GUNTHER is still champion in 11 days (August 9) he will pass Morales’ reign by a full day to become the second-longest reigning Intercontinental Champion.
The Honky Tonk man is the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time, holding the title for 453 recognised days between June 1987 and August 1988.
To pass this, GUNTHER will have to hold his title until at least September 7.
Ahead of then, GUNTHER will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam 2023 on August 5.
