The Rock WWE return draws impressive numbers on social media

WWE videos surrounding The Rock’s return on Friday’s (September 15) edition of SmackDown have amassed incredible numbers of views.

In the opening segment of Friday’s show, The Rock made his surprise return to interrupt the confrontation between Pat McAfee and Austin Theory.
After things got physical, the Hollywood star dropped Theory with a Spinebuster and a People’s Elbow.
The former WWE Champion also appeared in backstage segments with John Cena.
The Rock received a huge reaction from the Denver, Colorado crowd when he made his entrance. The reaction was just as big online, with videos surrounding The Rock’s return gaining millions of views.

Per Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, The Rock’s return video amassed over 100 million views across all of WWE’s social media channels in just one day.
As of writing (September 17, 10am ET), the full 13 minute segment has been watched over 3.4 million times on YouTube, with the backstage video of the Rock and John Cena earning 1.5 million views.
The video of the Rock’s entrance alone currently has 803,000 views on the platform.

The most viewed non-Rock video from SmackDown on YouTube was highlights of the segment in which Santos Escobar asked for a US Title match, which had 356,000 views
There has been a lot of speculation about whether or not WWE has considered moving the rumored Rock vs Roman Reigns match to the main event of WrestleMania 40 in April.
