Chris Jericho wants to face a former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion in Japan.

Prior to his time in WCW, WWE or AEW, Chris Jericho made a name for himself early in his career over in Japan, most notably for NJPW.
In 2017, Jericho would make his return to New Japan Pro Wrestling and compete in several high profile matches against top stars, such as Tetsuya Naito, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kazuchika Okada.
At DDT Pro’s Ultimate Party 2023, “The Ocho” added yet another top star to his list of competitors he has defeated in Japan when he scored a submission victory over Konosuke Takeshita.

Speaking to the media during the post show conference, Jericho was asked about any potential goals he had left when it pertains to wrestling talent in Japan. He answered:
“If you’re talking about other wrestlers in DDT, Endo, I thought he was very good tonight. I was very impressed with him,”
“I still think there’s a Jericho-Ibushi match that we could have in Japan. I think the biggest Japanese wrestler never faced is Suzuki.”
“I know he wants to do it and I want to do it. Once again, he’s a lot like my thoughts on Takeshita.”
“I don’t want to have a match just on a random dynamite I want to have a big main event match in Ryogoku, in the Tokyo Dome, somewhere big, and I want to do it in Japan.”

Chris Jericho will team with Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi and Paul Wight against the Don Callis Family’s Konosuke Takeshita, Powerhouse Hobbs, Kyle Fletcher and Brian Cage in the “Like A Dragon” Street Fight on the November 15 episode of AEW Dynamite.
Jericho will then move on to team with Omega as “The Golden Jets” against The Young Bucks on Saturday, November 18 at AEW Full Gear 2023.
If the Jets win, they get the Bucks’ guaranteed AEW World Tag Team Title shot, but if the Bucks win, the Jets must disband. For the full lineup for Full Gear, click here.
