An NJPW star has called out AEW’s Jon Moxley claiming they’re “joining” to follow up on a past encounter between the pair.

NJPW posted a video featuring El Desperado to their Twitter account that was recorded at GCW Tournament of Survival and Cage of Survival.
In the video, Desperado would reveal that he wants to follow up on their last encounter at Music City Mayhem in the summer of 2022 where the AEW defeated him in a No Disqualification match.
Desperado would note that NJPW STRONG are doing “some cool things soon”, referring to their upcoming Independence Day shows at Korakuen Hall on July 4 and 5.
Eddie Kingston and Lance Archer have already been confirmed for the NJPW Strong show in Tokyo.

Moxley was recently at NJPW Dominion on June 4, teaming with Shota Umino and ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli to take on NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champions Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Tomohiro Ishii.
Desperado isn’t the only NJPW star interested in facing Moxley with AEW Dynamite on June 7 with Best Friends and NJPW’s Rocky Romero representing CHAOS taking on Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta in Trios action.
This match will take place eighteen days before AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in Toronto, Canada.

Two matches have now been announced for the crossover show on June 25 2023 at Scotiabank Arena.
