The July 15 AEW Battle of Belts saw many fans miss the finish of the AEW Women’s World Championship thanks to thunderstorms.
As previously reported, an apparent satellite issue due to the poor weather caused a feed outage leaving many fans unable to see the final moments of Toni Storm defending her AEW Women’s World Championship against Taya Valkyrie.
It was also reported that the match will be able to view in full on the TNT app according to AEW on TV on Twitter.
Dave Meltzer has now revealed the interaction he had with Tony Khan over the missed finish.
Addressing the subject on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer stated:
“I sent a message to Tony Khan, because remember when they came back, they didn’t tell people the finish. I think they thought people knew the finish.
“They came back, and they were doing this match, and they went to the next thing.”
It appears that Khan listened to what Meltzer was saying, as he would go on to say:
“And I said, ‘You’ve got to tell the people who won that match, because we don’t know, and if you get chance, you should put the finish on’, which they did end up putting the finish on right at the end of the show.”
Of course, it’s entirely possible the decision was made separately to the suggestion from Meltzer.
