WWE star Cody Rhodes has now shared his honest thoughts on Kenny Omega and the Elite choosing to re-sign with AEW.

As reported earlier this week, Omega, Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson and Hangman Page have all agreed to renew their AEW contracts, signing multi-year deals with the company they helped to establish.
Omega and the Young Bucks will remain AEW Executive Vice Presidents.
One star who used to be an EVP was Cody Rhodes, who left AEW in February 2022 to rejoin WWE.
Speaking with Nick Hausman for Haus of Wrestling, Rhodes noted that he’s happy for the Elite, even though he would’ve loved it if they joined WWE so he could see them again.

Rhodes noted:
“I’m very happy when any wrestler or Superstar gets paid. I don’t want to sound carny or hacky but to know that your peers and people who take the bumps and go through all this and have that type of the physical struggle that comes with this gig, to know they’re getting paid is really exciting.
“I am over the moon that that group did what they did because, as Nick Jackson said, I believe they’ve made some NBA money off of it.
“I’m honestly just really happy for them. I am. I would have loved to have seen them again. But, you know, I’m very happy with the choices they made, and that schedule is a little different.
“This gig is, this particular gig at WWE, it’s a different type of personality that maybe fits me a little bit more. Yeah, but very happy for him.”

While the Elite were still in contract negotiations, there was some speculation that the group was going to follow in Rhodes’ footsteps and make the jump to WWE.

Rhodes will be in action at this weekend’s SummerSlam event, facing off against Brock Lesnar for the third time this year.
