AEW President Tony Khan has now confirmed that Orange Cassidy was responsible for bringing another rising star into the company.
Before siding with the Blackpool Combat Club in early 2022, Wheeler Yuta was a member of the Best Friends stable, alongside Kris Statlander, Chuck Taylor, Trent Beretta and Orange Cassidy.
Speaking on the Chase McCabe Show, Tony Khan pointed out that Cassidy was Yuta’s mentor.
Confirming that Cassidy introduced him to Yuta, Khan said:
“They know each other very well. Wheeler Yuta is Orange Cassidy’s protege.
“Honestly, Orange Cassidy is the person who brought Wheeler Yuta into AEW in the first place.
“He’s the person that brought him to my attention.
“He’s his former coach and a person who really mentored him in pro wrestling, in AEW, and in Philadelphia training him.”
Cassidy currently holds the AEW International Championship, a title which he won from Pac in October 2022 while it was still called the All-Atlantic Title.
