AJ Styles has shared a legitimate injury update, confirming the type of injury he suffered on the October 4 SmackDown episode.
While Styles returned to the ring on this recent episode, his match against Carmelo Hayes was cut short due to Styles seemingly suffering an injury.
While there were initially reports that an injury angle was planned for the segment, the likes of Sean Ross Sapp, Dave Meltzer and WWE’s Jackie Redmond have all reported that the word was that Styles was legitimately injured.
Styles has now provided an update on his status, taking to Twitter to confirm that he suffered a Lisfranc injury.
Replying to a fan skeptical about the legitimacy of Styles’ injury, Styles wrote:
It’s called a Lisfranc injury. Look it up, it sucks! I thought when I took off my boot. I would have a bone sticking out of my foot. https://t.co/7eEHiHC0Zg

Replying to a comment noting that this injury has ended seasons for numerous NFL running backs, Styles broke his situation down in a way which us Gen Z can understand:
Bingo, as the kids say….I’m cooked! https://t.co/1RHB4zcJqr
