PPV buys revealed for Sting's final match at AEW Revolution

AEW Revolution on March 3, 2024, featured Sting’s final match and has been a huge success for the company, making it one of AEW’s top PPVs.

The PPV also marked the debut match for Will Ospreay as a member of the AEW roster in a well-received victory over Konosuke Takeshita.
The AEW International Championship would change hands with Roderick Strong’s defeat of Orange Cassidy while the AEW World Tag Team Championships would be vacated with Sting retiring undefeated in the company.
The success of the event is likely to see the PPV enter the Top Five of the most successful AEW PPVs according to Dave Meltzer.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio about the success of the show, Meltzer stated:
“It looks good. Right now, it’s 25% up from Worlds End when it comes to domestic streaming on BR. 21% up on television. As of (Wednesday). The international through Triller was not up as much as the domestic for whatever reason.
“It’s looking it it will be probably the third or fourth biggest in company history.
“The biggest of course was the Punk debut at All Out 2021, the second biggest was All In last year from Wembley, the third biggest was the Revolution show from two years ago, which was Adam Page against Adam Cole, MJF against CM Punk, and Bryan Danielson and Moxley.
“That one ended up at 175,000. This one, it’s possible. Depending on late buys – the key is always late buys, based on word of mouth and things, we’ll see. It could beat that, it could fall short of that. But it looks like it’s gonna be third or fourth biggest of all time.”

It was a strong show for merch sales, too, with PWInsider noting sales closer to a concert than a ‘family show’ via Venues Now:
“For merchandise, run by Oui Vend, the average spend was $21.64, driven by the novelty of Sting’s final match, producing about $349,000 in gross sales.
“Most everything on the retail end sold out. For the arena, the numbers are on the high end for a family show and more in line with a concert.”

PWInsider also noted that the leading trade publication Venues Now reported that the PPV “drew 16,118 fans to the Greensboro Coliseum, generating more than $1 million in gross ticket sales with the average ticket price being $55.”
