CM Punk’s AEW return is set to take place on tomorrow night’s debut episode of AEW Collision.

Ahead of the launch of the show and Punk’s return, he took part in an interview with ESPN that was released today.
The interview had been anticipated all day after word had got around to the AEW roster backstage at the June 14 Dynamite show, with some said to have been upset with some of what Punk had said.
The main point Punk spoke about during the interview was his Double or Nothing match against Adam Page last year, and the now infamous ‘worker’s rights’ promo that preceded it.
Punk discussed how he thought Page would end up ‘shooting’ on him during the match, and how it led to him putting in a worse performance as a result.

Punk’s quote read:
“And I proceed to have what I think is a garbage match because I’m trying to protect myself on stuff instead of actually just working and trying to put on the best performance I can.
“I’m keeping an eye out. He chopped me in the mouth one time, and I’m just like, ‘OK, did you do that on purpose?’ You chip my tooth, and I’m like, ‘All right, should I give him a receipt?’
“It changes the dynamic. It poisoned everything for me, and it made it all really, really ugly, and that was what set all of this off, and here we are over a year later and ain’t s**t been done about it.”

Since the article was published, Nick Jackson took to Instagram to heap praise on Page, putting him over as ‘good at wrestling and an even better human being’.
Page teamed with the Young Bucks in the main event of this week’s Dynamite, where they defeated the Blackpool Combat Club’s Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli.
Punk is set to team with FTR to take on Samoa Joe, Jay White and Juice Robinson in the main event of Collision tomorrow night.
