With The Rock promising to return to WWE at a later date to face Cody Rhodes, the current Undisputed WWE Champion has recently spoken about his hopes that the match will happen.
During a media call ahead of WWE Backlash, Rhodes also address his feelings towards The Rock, saying:
“I don’t want to just leave it out there. I didn’t get any closure on the situation with The Rock, particularly with him giving me something back.
“That was something he should have kept and I feel that closure in wrestling. That’s one of the beautiful things about sports, entertainment, wrestling, and WWE. If you think that closure is going to happen, stay tuned. It might, but it might happen in a very different way.”
On the Raw after WrestleMania 40 on April 8, The Rock gave Cody Rhodes something and warned him “Don’t you ever break my heart again.”
Looking to the future, Rhodes went on to reflect on his recent match with Carmelo Hayes and a future challenger aside from The Rock, saying:
“So I look forward to his return. I look forward to Gunther and I look forward to everybody who challenges us as we move forward, I had an impromptu match and Carmelo Hayes just the other day. I look forward to every challenge that comes amazing.”
Hayes faced Rhodes on the April 26 episode of WWE SmackDown following the former NXT Champion being drafted to the blue brand.
