Former TNT Champion Wardlow has now addressed his absence from AEW TV, noting that he has been ‘very depressed’ during his hiatus.
Wardlow hasn’t wrestled on AEW TV since the June 17 edition of Collision, where he dropped his TNT Title to Luchasaurus.
While at Terrificon 2023, Wardlow was asked about his AEW status, and whether or not there are plans for him to return soon.
Noting that he has missed wrestling, Wardlow said:
“It is very surreal for me to be sitting up here, and I think these two gentlemen (Danhausen and Ethan Page) would agree. I think we all have similar come-ups in the business.
“We’ve been grinding for years. We’ve probably dreamed and wished of getting moments like these our whole lives.
“So I’ve been off TV for almost a couple months, and I’ve been very depressed. Wrestling is my everything. It makes me happy. So today, I feel like me again for the first time in months.
“So I just want to say thank you guys for coming out because you guys really flip a switch in my mind and my heart that I needed, so thank you.”
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful previously reported that someone in AEW was having passport issues getting into Canada.
It wasn’t confirmed who it was, but it does line up with the fact that Wardlow had his passport stolen when his car was broken into a few months ago.
While it’s unclear whether or not it was Wardlow, this would explain why he hasn’t appeared on AEW TV with the promotion recently holding shows in Canada.
