At WWE Backlash on May 4, The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) lost the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.

The match in France saw Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill victorious and marked the last time we saw Asuka in the ring.
On her KanaChanTV YouTube channel, Asuka has now revealed that she’s been dealing with an injury, saying:
“After the Backlash of the European tour, I had to take a break to treat my knee that I had been hurting for a while.”

Addressing the severity level of injury she has, Asuka went on to say:
“My partners Kairi [Sane] and Dakota [Kai] helped me a lot during this tour as I could not move at my best.
“I am very grateful to both of them.”

It would be suggested that we may have a while to wait until Asuka returns, with the video ending with “see you soon.”
At the time of writing, the type of knee injury that Asuka has been dealing with is not known.
The injury was serious enough to see Asuka pulled from the Queen of the Ring Tournament.

In March 2024, it was reported that Asuka had to be pulled from house shows due to a knee injury she picked up at the March 15 episode of WWE SmackDown.
Asuka has held the NXT Women’s Championship, WWE Women’s Championship, SmackDown Women’s Championship and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.
JJA Sport Studio wishes Asuka well in her recovery and return to the ring.
