The September 23 episode of WWE Raw saw Bron Breakker defend the Intercontinental Championship against Jey Uso.
Uso would defeat Breakker to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion and shared his thoughts on the victory immediately after Raw went off the air..

With over a decade in WWE, this marks the first time Uso has held singles gold having previously been a tag team champion.
Reacting to the achievement and surrounded by WWE Raw fans chanting “Yeet”, an emotional Uso played with the fans’ encouragement for a few moments before saying:
“First of all, though, I appreciate everyone who has been on my journey, Uce.
“I’m happy that it happened in front of my own state, California.
“And, I promise that I’m a big believer in hard work will always pay off.”
He would then go on to share a message to the younger generations, stating:
“Kids, though, good grades, kids. Listen to your parents, say your prayers and I swear your dreams will come true.
“Just like in my first championship. Your new Intercontinental Champion.
“And if you’re down with Jey Uso being the new IC Champ, then let me hear you say ‘yeet’.”
And, “Yeet” is certainly what the the fans at the Toyota Center in Ontario, California chanted back.
Before his match, Rhea Ripley posted on social media about Jey Uso, something that would later be referenced on WWE Raw.
