There was a title change during tonight’s July 5, 2024 episode of WWE SmackDown in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
On tonight’s SmackDown, the WWE Tag Team Championship was on the line as Grayson Waller and Austin Theory looked to defend their title.
Taking on DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa), it was a big night for the challengers who have a rich history together in Toronto which was mentioned throughout the night.
There was of course also the storyline going into the match of recent issues between Waller and Theory, and the teases of them potentially splitting up
In the end, with Ciampa and Gargano locking submission holds on both Austin Theory and Grayson Waller respectively at the same time, there were brand new champions crowned.
#DIY won the match and became the new WWE Tag Team Champions.
This marks the first main roster championship for both Gargano and Ciampa, both of whom are former NXT Champions and NXT Tag Team Champions together.
