With WWE Raw heading to Netflix in January 2025, it was recently reported that SmackDown would move to a three-hour show.
The report stated that the three-hour show would start from January 3, 2025 on the USA Network for the first time since 2019.
The change to the SmackDown length is yet to be confirmed by WWE or the USA Network.
Discussing the change on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that negotiations for the three-hour show were underway as the original deal was for just two hours.
Dave Meltzer has now confirmed the run-time plans for WWE SmackDown and the state of negotiations for the longer show.
Writing about both topics in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer stated:
As things stand right now, the Wrestlevotes story about Smackdown going three hours in January is accurate.
Those in WWE note nothing is finalized but they are likely waiting to make that announcement.
As far as how this works financially, we are just told that negotiations are ongoing with USA.
WWE Raw will be a two-hour show for the remainder of its run before moving back to three hours when it debuts on Netflix in 2025.
