A planned World Heavyweight Championship match for WWE Elimination Chamber that was scrapped due to Seth Rollins’ injury has been revealed.
World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins suffered an injury during a championship match against Jinder Mahal on Raw last month, which has kept him out of action since.
Rollins is set to be cleared from his injury in time for WrestleMania 40, but the injury caused him to miss today’s Elimination Chamber event in Perth, Australia, with him appearing on the show on the Grayson Waller Effect alongside Cody Rhodes.
Another notable omission from the show was Australia’s own Bronson Reed, who has since revealed that his wife had given birth, and he was at home with his family.
However, his wife’s pregnancy was not the only reason for his absence from the show in his home country.
Per Fightful Select, Reed was originally slated for a huge match on the show in his home country, with him originally slated to face Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship on the show.
This match was hinted at on television, when Reed cut a very brief cryptic promo stating that a champion on Raw holds a title that would soon belong to him.
The plans for the match were scrapped when Rollins sustained his knee injury against Jinder, and was unable to perform on the show.
Fightful noted that Reed was more than willing to work the event ahead of the birth of his child.
Rollins announced on the show that he was just days away from being cleared to return to the ring.
Drew McIntyre won the Elimination Chamber match on the show, earning the right to face Seth Rollins for the title at WrestleMania.
