On tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown (May 17) there were two King of the Ring and two Queen of the Ring quarter-final matches.
Opening the show with action in the Queen of the Ring tournament, Tiffany Stratton took on Bianca Belair.
In the end, it was Bianca Belair who scored the win to advance despite selling a leg injury throughout.
Nia Jax took on Jade Cargill in the second Queen of the Ring match of the show, but after there was significant brawling at ringside, the match saw the introduction of a chair by Nia Jax.
However when Cargill caught it and hit Jax with it instead, the referee stopped the match for a disqualification, advancing Nia Jax to the semi-finals to face Bianca Belair.
This means the winner of the SmackDown semi-final between Jax and Belair will face the winner of the Raw semi-final between IYO SKY and Lyra Valkyria in the tournament final.
In King of the Ring action tonight, LA Knight took on not only Tama Tonga but also the presence of the Bloodline at ringside.
In the end, the numbers game was too much for LA Knight, and it’s the Bloodline – specifically Tonga – advancing to the semi-finals of the King of the Ring tournament.
In the main event of WWE SmackDown, Randy Orton took on Carmelo Hayes to determine who would advance in the tournament to face Tama Tonga.
After an exciting match, it was Randy Orton who picked up the pinfall victory after an RKO very much struck Hayes ‘out of nowhere’.
The show went off the air with the Bloodline coming out on to the entrance but Randy Orton stopping them to introduce himself.
Telling Tama Tonga that he was going to introduce his foot up the Bloodline’s ass in the semi-final, Orton was certain that he was going to advance to win the King of the Ring tournament for the first time in his career.
The winner of Orton vs Tonga will face the winner of Raw’s semi-final between GUNTHER and Jey Uso.
