The reasoning behind AEW’s decision to cut a match from the May 29 edition of Dynamite has been revealed.
On the May 29 episode of AEW Control Center a match between Saraya and Mariah May was announced to be taking place later that same day on Dynamite.
However, fans were left rather confused when the match did not end up taking place, instead being later announced for the following week’s Dynamite on June 5.
Details on why this happened have been unclear since, however, now it seems we have our answer courtesy of Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.
Meltzer explained that the reasoning for the change was due to Mercedes Mone’s presence on the same show – however, Meltzer was not clear whether this was the opening TBS Championship celebration segment, her match with Skye Blue later that night or all of the above.
Meltzer said:
“The reason that match wasn’t on is because they… decided to put Mercedes Mone on instead.”
