Following his fractured tibia injury, former TNT Champion Adam Copeland has reflected on his AEW Double Or Nothing steel cage dive.

At AEW Double Or Nothing 2024, Adam Copeland defeated Malakai Black to retain the TNT Championship in a Barbwire Steel Cage Match.
During the course of the bout, Copeland took a dive off the top of the cage onto Black on a table wrapped in barbwire, but came down on his feet.
“The Rated R Superstar” later revealed that he suffered a fractured tibia that required surgery and was stripped of the TNT Championship.

Appearing on Busted Open Radio, Adam Copeland was asked about his mindset for his character going forward following this injury. He answered:
“Part of me goes, ‘Well, you recreate yourself.’ But each injury kind of adds itself to the character that I was already portraying, which — to be honest — is not that far removed from me at this point,”
“I don’t know how much I change, honestly. I think it’s just one more instance of, like, grizzled vet fighting back from another one.”

Noting that the cage dive was an unnecessary one for him, Copeland said:
“I think I could have got the same mileage if I did it off the top rope. So, live and learn. But at the same time, I finished the match,”
“Hopefully also throughout this story, it’s a reminder of what [Malakai] Black brings to the table.”
“And kind of just let people understand, ‘Oh yeah, by the way, there’s this group of badasses that have an insane presentation.’ So, a few missions accomplished and a setback.”

A timetable for Adam Copeland’s return to AEW has not been disclosed at the time of this writing.
At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, there will be a ladder match to determine a new TNT Champion. Konosuke Takeshita and Mark Briscoe have already qualified for the bout.
