Following Dominion 2024, a major championship match has been made official for the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door event.
At NJPW Dominion 2024, Jon Moxley defeated EVIL to retain the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship in a Lumberjack Deathmatch.
After his successful title defence, Moxley got on the microphone and made a challenge to anyone in the locker room to step up to be his next challenger.
Former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Tetsuya Naito came out to accept the challenge and vowed to bring the gold back to New Japan Pro Wrestling.
On June 10, All Elite Wrestling made the championship match official with an announcement on social media. The post reads:

Moxley defeated Naito to win the IWGP World Heavyweight Title at NJPW Windy City Riot in April. He has since defended the title against Powerhouse Hobbs, Ren Narita, Shota Umino and EVIL.
