The BTE Trigger is no more as the Young Bucks have a new name for their finishing move in AEW and it’s more job role-appropriate.
The February 7 episode of AEW Dynamite saw Big Bill & Ricky Starks taking on Sting & Darby Allin for the Tag Team Championships.
As can be seen in the video below this news story, there would be a title change and the Young Bucks came down during the post-match celebration.
With Matthew & Nicholas Jackson making their feelings about Sting obvious over recent weeks, they wouldn’t be celebrating the new champions.
With blood on their nice white suits, the pair would hit the move formerly known as the BTE Trigger on Darby Allin.
Tony Schiavone would point out that the move should be added to the “banned list” only to have its name corrected by Excalibur.
According to the commentator, Matthew Jackson had called him into the office earlier in the day to tell him that the move was now the EVP Trigger.
Both Jacksons are Executive Vice Presidents in AEW, hence the inclusion of EVP in the name.
The Young Bucks returned to AEW television on January 10, 2024, entering a feud with Sting and Allin.
With Sting’s retirement match due to take place at AEW Revolution on March 3, 2024, it has previously been reported that the Young Bucks would feature in a tag match against Darby Allin and Sting.
It was recently reported that Sting has creative control over the outcome of the match with Tony Khan having reportedly given the WWE Hall of Famer “any match he wanted“.
