‘Hangman’ Adam Page is taking time off after his defeat on the March 3, 2024, at AEW Revolution and the reason has now been revealed.
The February 21 episode of AEW Dynamite saw Page land awkwardly during his multi-man tag match where he teamed with HOOK and RVD to take on Samoa Joe, Swerve Strickland and Brian Cage.
Initial concerns about the injury and the impact it would have on the AEW World Championship match at Revolution were proved to be unfounded with the spot being confirmed as a storyline.
With Page getting physical with the referee at AEW Revolution, the March 6 episode of Dynamite saw EVPs Matthew & Nicholas Jackson suspend Page from The Elite, again in storyline.
Addressing the suspension in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed:
Adam Page will be taking a short period of time off after the PPV for a family-related reason.
It’s nothing negative. No word on when he’ll be back.
They did a TV angle to explain his being gone with the Young Bucks suspending him without pay (making him a babyface upon his return which is strange given the last month) based on his attack at the PPV of referee Bryce Remsberg.
Page wasn’t the only AEW star to receive punishment from the Young Bucks, with Kenny Omega being ‘fired from The Elite’.
Omega is currently recovering from surgery with it being recently reported that he had to undergo emergency treatment following his initial hospitalization.
Kazuchika Okada has now joined with the Young Bucks in a new version of The Elite after he chose to join AEW.
