An AEW star has broken their silence following their heel turn at Sunday’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view event (May 26).
In one of three ‘main events’ at AEW Double or Nothing 2024, TBS Champion Willow Nightingale faced off with the debuting Mercedes Mone – in a rematch over a year in the making.
Despite fans backing Nightingale throughout the contest, some ‘inadvertent’ outside interference from Nightingale’s partners Kris Statlander and Stokely Hathaway proved pivotal as Mone secured her first title in the company.
Immediately following the loss to Mone, a knife was then stuck in her back as both Hathaway and Statlander brutally turned their back on the former champion.
In her first comments since turning heel, Statlander took to Twitter to celebrate “new beginnings” following Double or Nothing.
Statlander tweeted:
Me new beginnings at Double or Nothing

It’s unclear what will be next for Nightingale following both the loss of her teammate and TBS Championship.
As for the new TBS Champion Mercedes Mone, a big interpromotional match has been teased ahead of June 30’s AEW Forbidden Door pay-per-view.
