There has been an update on AEW’s media rights deal with Warner Bros. Discovery following a recent report that a deal had been reached.
A report emerged online yesterday that an agreement between AEW and WBD had been reached in regards to a new media rights deal, with an announcement said to have been ‘imminent’.
In an update from Fightful Select, sources close to WBD’s stance have said that nothing is imminent to be announced over the next few days.
Neither company is planning to announce a deal imminently, and the framework of a deal has yet to be agreed to by both sides, though both sides to expect a new deal to be reached and for the relationship to continue.
Both David Zaslav and Tony Khan are scheduled to be in Paris for the Olympics, and plan to meet.
The meeting has been planned for months, though it was stressed that it is not a guarantee that a deal will be reached there, though they are supposed to have conversations regarding the deal.
Other sources close to the situation have said that an offer has likely been made, but stressed that there is no agreement between the two sides as of today.
Fightful noted that they had heard that an offer was made months ago from WBD to AEW, but it had not been agreed upon and was still under negotiating.
