Following his abdominal surgery, an update has been provided on the recovery of former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega.
Kenny Omega was forced out of action and has been absent from All Elite Wrestling since December 2023 after a potentially life-threatening bout with diverticulitis.
In May 2024, Omega underwent abdominal surgery and has been recovering ever since. His condition has been improving, but there has been little update on his possible return to AEW.
In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported the latest update on Kenny Omega’s recovery. He wrote:
“Regarding Kenny Omega, he still has some pain but he is training with moderate intensity. I don’t expect him back any time soon for wrestling as he’s still got weakness in the abdominal area from the surgery and can’t start taking bumps yet. There is no estimate on a return. As noted, Kota Ibushi, who has also had his physical issues, is looking at returning when Omega returns.”
Before having his surgery, Omega made a brief return to AEW programming on the May 1 episode of Dynamite for an angle where he was laid out by The Elite.
A recent report has revealed the return plans for both Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi.
JJA Sport Studio will provide any further updates on Kenny Omega’s AEW return when they become available.
