With WWE SmackDown moving to the USA Network, reports emerged that AEW was in talks with FOX for a future show.
Details of a possible AEW-FOX partnership emerged over the past few days, with it being noted that the broadcaster was interested in a wrestling show for their Tubi streaming service.
It was also noted that after the recent AEW Shockwave trademark was filed, there has been internal speculation in both worlds that a new program could be headed to the FOX family, whether it be the FOX Network, Tubi or FS1.
With news emerging that the media rights negotiations between AEW and Warner Bros Discovery is now a “done deal“, more details have emerged on negotiations with FOX.
Dave Meltzer revealed that a deal with FOX is “not done”, however, based on AEW filing a trademark for Shockwave, some kind of deal in regards to Shockwave must be “pretty darn close”, saying on Wrestling Observer Radio:
“The FOX deal is not done, I know a lot of people have been talking about the idea on the FOX Network but I would strongly suspect it will not be on the FOX Network.
“It will probably be another station, whether it’s FS1, whether it’s a streaming component.
“As far as the Shockwave thing, they did trademark the name. So they have to be pretty darn close to a deal to the lengths of trademarking the name.”
