Former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland reacts to reports of WWE believing All Elite Wrestling overpaid him.
At AEW All In London, Swerve Strickland signed a new contract with the company. Fightful Select reported that the deal was a multi-year contract that would see Strickland sticking with the promotion until at least 2028.
Following his re-signing, Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that the offer to Swerve was “so far over what WWE perceived as market value,”.
In a new interview with the Breakfast Club, Swerve Strickland was asked about the report. He answered:
“They only complain when a Black person gets paid, I will say that.”
“We shake the foundation of things like that. ‘Oh snap, wait. That’s not what we would pay.’ Then why are you calling me? Why are you asking me? If I’m not your concern then don’t worry about it.”
“Don’t worry about my pockets and our money. We’re good. You have your talent.”
“You made your decision with me two years ago. No hard feelings from me. I keep it moving and I’m going to figure my way out and I’m going to build myself up,
WWE released Swerve Strickland from his contract in November 2021 before he went on to sign with AEW in March 2022.
Strickland is currently not medically cleared from All Out 2024. MVP made his AEW debut to seemingly recruit Swerve away from Prince Nana at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam.
