There has been a new update on two-time former WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee and her potential return to the company.
Following CM Punk’s unlikely return to WWE at Survivor Series 2023, it wasn’t long before rumors regarding his wife, AJ Lee also making a comeback began swirling.
This reached a fever-pitch around the 2024 Royal Rumble event, however, it never came to pass.
AJ has been brought up a few times on WWE programming, most notably at the WrestleMania 40 Kick-Off, where Punk – who was a panelist for the event, was jokingly introduced as AJ Lee’s husband by Michael Cole.
Despite the recent acknowledgment of AJ, however, according to SEScoops there has not been any discussions regarding bringing her back to the company recently.
A “tenured” WWE source reportedly told SEScoops:
“She’s very well liked, and respected. Just not a topic at the moment.”
Despite this being the case now, according to the report, talks of a return had been initiated through Punk prior to the Royal Rumble, however, AJ’s vision of a potential return would be a “memorable” one rather than a “one-time appearance”.
AJ has been gone from WWE and in-ring competition as a whole for almost a decade, last competing on the March 30, 2015 episode of WWE Raw in a six-woman tag match.
While AJ’s return to wrestling doesn’t seem on the cards currently, her husband CM Punk is tirelessly working himself back to full fitness following his injury setback at the Royal Rumble.
