An update has emerged on an upcoming championship match, with clarification given on the WWE stars set to compete.
As was previously announced, an NXT Heritage Cup match is slated to take place on Tuesday’s (May 14) NXT episode. While Tony D’Angelo was confirmed to be the challenger, there was some uncertainty surrounding who’d be defending the title, with the No Quarter Catch Crew will defend the gold under “Catch Rules”, meaning that any member of Dempsey’s faction can defend the gold.
Tony D’Angelo appeared to seal his fate on the May 7 NXT episode, which ended with him abducting Dempsey’s teammates Damon Kemp and Myles Borne.
WWE has now confirmed that Charlie Dempsey will be the star defending the NXT Heritage Cup on the upcoming episode of NXT.
The WWE NXT Twitter account shared a graphic for the upcoming match with the caption:

Charlie Dempsey won the Heritage Cup on the February 27 edition of NXT from Noam Dar of the Meta-Four.
D’Angelo notably challenged for Ilja Dragunov’s NXT Championship at the NXT Stand & Deliver premium live event in April.
Dragunov, who dropped the title to Trick Williams at the NXT Spring Breakin’ special, is currently competing in the WWE King of the Ring tournament.
