Randy Orton could have had to retire from WWE in-ring action, and he’s revealed what would have happened if that was the case.
Orton was out of the ring for 18 months before returning at Survivor Series last November as injury issues accumulated over the years, specifically to his back, seemingly caught up with him.
Doctors initially told Orton he should retire, but evidently, he’s opted not to do so for the time being.
In an interview with Sportskeeda, Randy Orton explained what he would have done if he was forced into retirement, saying:
“I would have been involved in some way, shape or form with the WWE. I think – I might be wrong – but I might be the only guy that’s only ever wrestled for one company his entire career. I could be wrong.
“So I don’t see any reason why I gotta leave. I see being a part of the WWE family from here on out.
“And if I wouldn’t have been able to go back to wrestling, I would have been a coach, trained, done something. Maybe an on-the-road producer.”
In giving that answer, Orton pretty much confirmed that’s what his plan is for when he does eventually retire in the future, whenever that may be.
He recently hinted that he could retire aged 50, which would be in six years’ time.
Orton most recently lost to GUNTHER in the King of the Ring tournament final, although there was an unplanned issue with the pinfall as Orton’s shoulder was clearly up, which led to a tease from Triple H for a rematch.
