There has been a new backstage update on the much-anticipated WWE return of Rhea Ripley.
After ruling over WWE Raw as Women’s World Champion for over a year, The Eradicator saw her time at the top abruptly cut short in mid-April as she suffered a shoulder injury during a televised backstage brawl with Liv Morgan.
This sadly led to Ripley being forced to vacate her WWE Women’s World Championship, a title that Becky Lynch would win on the April 22 of Raw, before dropping it to Morgan at WWE King & Queen of the Ring a month later.
Since then Morgan has proceeded to rub salt in the wounds by continuously attempting to seduce Dominik Mysterio, leading to many fans eagerly awaiting Ripley’s return to see how she reacts to the teased romance between Mysterio and Morgan.
Well, thankfully a new report from Fightful Select has provided an update as to when we could expect Ripley back on WWE TV.
Fightful notes that there is a “hope” within WWE that Ripley will be able to return ahead of SummerSlam on August 3 in some capacity.
The report states that WWE have things set up so Ripley can return to Raw whenever she’s available, whether that’s in a physical role or otherwise.
However, discussions have reportedly been conducted internally regarding Ripley immediately returning in a program for the Women’s World Championship.
Despite this, a WWE source that spoke with Fightful Select noted that this would depend on the story available at the time Ripley’s ready to make her return, due to several creative decisions being made that involve her in her absence.
Although there is hope that Ripley will be back around SummerSlam, there are no concrete plans in place or word on whether WWE has spoken with Ripley regarding her return timeline.
JJA Sport Studio will provide further updates on Ripley’s return as/when they become available.
