Former two-time WWE Champion The Miz says Monday Night Raw commentator Pat McAfee has been “amazing” for the company.

After a short stint as an in-ring wrestler on the NXT brand, Pat McAfee made the move to the SmackDown brand as a color commentator alongside Michael Cole. He became very popular in the role and eventually made his way to the ring to wrestle on several occasions.
After briefly leaving to work on ESPN College Gameday, the former NFL punter made his full time return at Royal Rumble 2024 to join Cole on the Monday Night Raw brand.

On the latest edition of The Rich Eisen Show, former WWE Champion The Miz discussed Pat McAfee’s run in WWE. He said:
“He’s been amazing for us in WWE. He’s a ball of energy.”
“He usually flies in because he does his show, and then he’ll fly right in, and he’ll do our show, and it’s very difficult to do. A lot of people are like, ‘Oh, color commentary, it’s not that hard,’ It’s very difficult.”
“It’s a whole different mindset. And the way he’s been able to come into WWE and really just take the bull by the horns and really go out there and do just a fantastic job of storytelling. That’s what we do.”
“We tell stories, and the way he’s able to communicate that to our audience is unmatched. He’s been doing a great job at it.”

On McAfee’s preparation time in the color commentary role, The Miz said:
“(Pat) is having a great time doing it and doesn’t need any time preparing….”
“I don’t think Pat does much preparing like he usually flies in…..he gets there a half hour before the show, and he just goes right in there and just goes.”
“I don’t know if he prepares himself on his private jet or whatever…..he just goes in there and rocks it.”

McAfee is set to make his return to ESPN College Gameday, which should lead to another hiatus from his role on WWE Raw during the season.
