A WWE star has returned with a revamped gimmick as the latest iteration of his character debuted in a vignette on tonight’s SmackDown.
On tonight’s episode of August 9 episode of WWE SmackDown, there was a vignette previewing the return of a recently cast-aside star who was betrayed by his former group.
After Ludwig Kaiser turned on Giovanni Vinci and violently attacked him, Vinci was effectively written off of WWE Raw and out of Imperium.
While GUNTHER and Ludwig Kaiser remain together, their former third has now made the jump to SmackDown.
Starring in a return vignette, Vinci had clearly shaken off his Imperium persona as ‘relatively bland henchman’ in favor of a return to a character seemingly closer to his last presentation on WWE NXT.
While the clip didn’t offer a specific return date, it did offer some impressive visuals of Vinci living a luxurious lifestyle.

Elsewhere on tonight’s WWE SmackDown, there was a number one contender’s match between Santos Escobar and Andrade to determine who would face off against LA Knight for the United States Championship.
After an interference by Carmelo Hayes, Andrade lost the match to Santos Escobar, meaning Escobar will be Knight’s first challenger for the title he won from Logan Paul at SummerSlam.
