Following her recent WWE babyface turn, former Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley has commented on her connection with her fans.
After receiving a massive reaction upon returning to WWE from injury last month, Rhea Ripley’s babyface status was set in stone after she was brutally betrayed by long-time on-screen partner Dominik Mysterio.
Despite the turn only being made official since her return from injury, Ripley has been consistently receiving some of the loudest reactions of anyone on the WWE roster for a while now – making the decision to turn her face an easy decision.
Speaking to Busted Open Radio, Ripley commented on her connection with fans and why she feels they relate to her:
“I feel like they know my story and they gravitate toward me because I’m different, I don’t fit in. I stand out. I do my own thing. I wear too much black. I wear studs. I wear chains. I have black lipstick. I do the dark, smokey eye. I’m different.”
Ripley then explained how her being “different” from others led to confidence issues growing up, something that she feels has gradually improved every year that passes:
“I’ve always been such a self-conscious person growing up because I’ve always been different, people picked always picked on me for looking like a man. I had such a lack of confidence back then, and it’s been growing each and every year.
“Each and every time you see Rhea Ripley evolve it’s because my confidence gets bigger and better. I’m always going to have this amazing confidence now because I finally learned how to love myself.”
After herself and Damian Priest’s removal from The Judgment Day at SummerSlam, the Terror Twins would unite on last week’s WWE Raw (August 5), with the pair sending a message to the ‘new’ version of the group after the show went off the air.
