Top WWE star Kevin Owens says it’s great to see Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes “get all of his flowers.”

At WWE Bash In Berlin, Cody Rhodes defeated Kevin Owens to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship.
The build to the bout centered around the friendship between the two that started in the company and continued through Cody’s time away until his return in 2022.
When Rhodes left WWE in 2016, Owens made sure he had some help in navigating the independent scene in the form of connecting him with his friends, The Young Bucks.

Speaking with Shakiel Mahjouri of CBS Sports, Kevin Owens revealed after Cody Rhodes left WWE, he contacted Matthew and Nicholas Jackson to help him. On asking the duo to take care of Rhodes, Owens said:
“Cody left in 2016, and it sucked,”
“It sucked to lose my friend. I really wanted him to have the best possible introduction to the independent scene because he had never been around and never done that.”
“He had been in the WWE system for so long. The independent scene is a whole different ballgame from the WWE. I just guided him in the right direction and put him in touch with people.”

“I knew the Young Bucks would take care of him and I knew they would hit it off. They did,”
“I was right. That helped him get the right platform and everything else fit. He knew what he was capable of and he really wanted to show people what he already saw in himself.”
“He succeeded. That’s an understatement. It’s great to see him get all of his flowers and see the position he’s in now.”

Following their match at Bash In Berlin, Rhodes and Owens shook hands and hugged, confirming their friendship was still in tact.
Cody Rhodes is scheduled to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against The Bloodline’s Solo Sikoa in a Steel Cage Match on the September 13 season premiere edition of WWE SmackDown on the USA Network.
