Former WWE Tag Team Champion Tommaso Ciampa of DIY has explained his hopes for the tag team division moving forward.
Over the past few months, the SmackDown tag team division has been gaining momentum with WWE Tag Team Champions The Bloodline, Street Profits and DIY standing out.
With The Motor City Machine Guns set for a debut on the October 18 episode, things will only heat up as the year comes to a close.
In a recent interview with The Battleground podcast, DIY’s Tommaso Ciampa expressed his happiness with the growth of SmackDown’s tag team scene. Explaining his next goal for the division, he said:
“I always want more and I always want it to go faster.”
“But I think that is the normal nature of any competitive business, like, you always want more than you’re getting and you always want it to happen faster than it’s happening.”
“It’s exciting to see tag teams getting that light shown on them, for example, the last two or three pay-per-views we’ve had pretty decent profile matches on Smackdown the night before.”
“Now what we want is we got to get on the PLEs. You watch France crowd from home, you watch anything, you watch SummerSlam from home, and you’re just like, ‘Well that’s the best crowd you’re gonna get,'”
DIY defeated A Town Down Under to win the WWE Tag Team Championships on the July 5 edition of SmackDown. Then, the duo lost the gold to The Bloodline’s Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa one month later.
Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley of The Motor City Machine Guns are reportedly scheduled to debut on SmackDown against Los Garza on the October 18 episode.
