There was a title change on WWE television tonight as a new NXT Heritage Cup Champion was crowned on USA Network.

On tonight’s episode of WWE NXT (May 14), Charlie Dempsey looked to defend his Heritage Cup Championship against Tony D’Angelo.
While the scores in the Heritage Cup rules match were split for quite some time – with Tony D picking up a win, a time limit draw, Charlie Dempsey scoring a win, and another draw – it came down to the final moments of the fifth round.
Dempsey’s No Quarter Catch Crew faction members Damon Kemp and Myles Borne appeared from out of nowhere, back from their weeklong missing spell complete with torn t-shirts, to strike during the match.

However their interference wouldn’t prove to be enough to get Dempsey the win as Tony D’Angelo would go on to win the fifth round via pinfall and therefore become the new WWE NXT Heritage Cup Champion.
This marks D’Angelo’s third title reign, having already had two runs as NXT Tag Team Champion alongside Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo.
However the celebration wasn’t shown very long as there was complete mayhem backstage that the show cut to cover.

There was a surprise return from Gallus who appeared to have taken out all of the challengers for Oba Femi’s North American Championship – Ivar, Wes Lee and Josh Briggs.
Elsewhere on tonight’s NXT, Lash Legend and Sol Ruca qualified to participate in the ladder match at NXT Battleground to determine the first ever Women’s North American Champion.
