In the first match of WrestleMania 40 it was ‘The Man’ Becky Lynch attempting to topple the WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley.

WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia kicked off with a brand new WWE show intro, a welcome by Triple H as well as a performance of the National Anthem before any action began.
It was then time for two big entrances as the challenger ‘The Man’ Becky Lynch made an A/R heavy entrance that featured passages from her recently released memoir.

Next out, Rhea Ripley was played to the ring with a live performance of her entrance theme by the band, Motionless in White.
In an intriguing new bit of camera work, Samantha Irvin’s ring announcement was shown from a high resolution in-ring camera, adding movie-like quality to the introductions.

Throughout the match. commentary made note of Becky Lynch’s recent illness, and how that could affect her, especially in conjunction with the cold weather conditions (WWE is using a heated ring tonight to compensate).
In the end, Rhea Ripley defeated Becky Lynch to retain the WWE Women’s World Championship after hitting her Riptide finisher and capturing the pinfall victory.
