Chris Jericho found himself on the end of the microphone thanks to Hook on the May 15 episode of AEW Dynamite.
Having not been seen since losing the FTW Championship to Jericho at AEW Dynasty on April 21, Hook made his return last night and defeated Sebastian Wolfe in a match that lasted less than thirty seconds and that can be seen below this news story.
Hook would then be greeted by Jericho in his own disparaging way, with the Learning Tree saying he “loves being on Dynamite so much, even if it means sharing the spotlight with somebody.”
The former FTW Champion would challenge the idea of Jericho sharing the spotlight saying he wants all the spotlight on Jericho when he beats him for the FTW Championship on that night’s Dynamite.
Despite much crowd enthusiasm for an FTW Championship match, Jericho would pour water on the idea, saying that it’s “not a fighting moment, it’s a teaching moment” going on to reveal the lesson is that the world doesn’t revolve around Hook.
For this learning session, Jericho would be rewarded with a microphone blow to the top of his head, with Big Bill stepping in to stop the attack going further.
It turns out that the blow the head has done enough damage to Jericho that he required medical attention, as he revealed in AEW backstage footage that can be seen below, saying:
“Wow. HOOK, I can tell that I touched a nerve when you hit me with that microphone and made me bleed my own blood.
“You know, HOOK, I can’t even be mad about this because it tells me that you’re learning. It tells me that you’re learning what it takes you to become a champion again because you were the For The World Champion.
“Maybe someday you will again. It’s gonna be a while, though, because you’re still learning. I’m glad you’re in the Jericho Vortex.
I’m glad that you hit me hard enough to bleed. It really hurts, HOOK. But you know what? It also really makes me proud.
“This is serious business. It’s what The Learning Tree is here for, HOOK, to make you a better person and a better wrestler, both inside the ring and out.
“So I’m gonna need a few stitches, and I’m gonna get them gladly because it shows that you’re learning the lessons that The Learning Tree is trying to teach you.
“So HOOK, I want to thank you. Good luck in your qualifying match this week on Collision. I hope you win [laughs]. Ugh, it hurts.”
Jericho rechristened the FTW in the championship name to “For The World” due to the negative interpretation of the name.
It was recently reported that Hook was interested in exploring free agency when his contract expires with WWE having an interest in the start.
