Former WCW Champion and Hollywood actor David Arquette was backstage at AEW Dynamite Blood & Guts on July 24, 2024.

Arquette, known for the role of Officer Dewey Riley in the Scream movie franchise, appeared on WCW television in 2000.
He holds victories over Eric Bischoff, including the one that would see him become WCW World Heavyweight Champion.
According to PW Insider, Arquette was ‘backstage visiting’ at last night’s show in Nashville.
His championship reign wasn’t a long one at just 12 days with the title eventually being won by Jeff Jarrett in a Triple Cage match also featuring Diamond Dallas Page at WCW Slamboree in 2000.

In comments made during an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Arquette revealed that he didn’t want to win the WCW Championship.
Arquette believed that fans wouldn’t take to a non-wrestler as champion going on to suggest that WCW booker Vince Russo used the publicity associated with the movie Ready to Rumble as a bargaining tool.
Arquette would go on to appear on WWE television and attempted to insert himself into the Double or Nothing Over the Budget Battle Royal in 2019 during an appearance on Being the Elite.

The former WCW Champion had one match in WWE teaming with Alex Riley to take on Randy Orton, with match highlights below this news story.
He has previously faced Jack Perry under his Jungle Boy guise in 2019 at Bar Wrestling.
Arquette retired from in-ring competition in 2021 with his final match being in July of that year.
