AEW star Kota Ibushi has now provided an update on his condition, announcing that he will soon undergo ankle surgery.

Ibushi was in action in the main event of the January 2 Pro Wrestling NOAH The New Year 2024 show, defeating Naomichi Marufuji in singles action .
It was reported following the match that Ibushi had been taken to hospital after suffering injuries to both ankles during the bout.
Kota Ibushi has now taken to social media to state that he will soon have surgery.

Ibushi tweeted:

“Sorry for the late contact. I’m sure NOAH will give you more details, but I would like to inform you that the inside of my left ankle was quite a mess, so I decided to have surgery on the right ligament. I think there will be a release soon. I’m really, really sorry.”

After making a number of appearances for the company, Ibushi signed with AEW in November 2023.
He last wrestled for AEW on the November 15 edition of Dynamite, teaming with Paul Wight, Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho to defeat Brian Cage, Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher and Powerhouse Hobbs in a Street Fight.
We will continue to provide updates on the situation as they become available.
We wish Ibushi a safe and healthy recovery.
