An update has emerged on AEW star Kenny Omega’s status following his recent hospitalization due to diverticulitis.

After Kenny Omega took to social media in December 2023 to state that he’ll be out of action indefinitely, it was reported that Omega had been dealing with a really serious case of diverticulitis.
While there’s no official timeframe for Omega’s return, there has been some speculation that Omega will be back on the road for AEW’s visit to Canada in March, with Omega featured on the graphic for the March 20 Dynamite and Rampage taping in Toronto.
Per Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Omega hadn’t had surgery as of last week, due to inflammation.

Noting that in around seven weeks Omega will know more about the plan for his recovery, Meltzer wrote:
For what it’s worth and I wouldn’t read much into this just yet, but Kenny Omega is on the poster for the 3/20 show in Toronto, as are Will Ospreay, Swerve Strickland, Toni Storm, Jon Moxley, Chris Jericho, Saraya, Orange Cassidy, Adam Copeland, Christian and Julia Hart.
I wouldn’t expect Omega back by that time. You can look at Davey Boy Smith Jr’s return and think maybe, but this situation was very different and far worse. Smith got Diverticulitis and appendicitis, but had surgery right away and pretty much made a remarkable recovery.
Omega’s situation was far worse. Due to the inflammation being so bad he couldn’t have surgery at the time and as of last week still hadn’t had it.
The decision will be made in about seven weeks, based on his healing, on whether he’ll need surgery or not, but if he does, that would put him out of action significantly longer. There is no time frame on when he will return at this point.

Diverticulitis is inflammation caused by pouches or bulges called diverticula forming in the walls of the large intestine/colon. Common symptoms include severe abdominal pain, nausea, and high temperatures.
We continue to wish Omega a safe and healthy recovery.
