Cody Rhodes has reflected on his final AEW promo before making his surprise return to WWE at WrestleMania 38.
The American Nightmare’s status as an AEW EVP and founding member of the company made a WWE return seem almost impossible in the eyes of many fans; however, at WrestleMania 38 we saw exactly that happen.
With so much happening in the world of wrestling since his AEW departure, it seems almost like ancient history at this point; however, it was in fact only two years ago that the former three-time TNT Champion cut what would be his final promo on Dynamite.
On the anniversary of the promo (January 19) Cody re-tweeted a clip of the impassioned speech and reflected on how much it meant to him:
Cody said:
I’ll always feel privileged that I got to say goodbye with these words and the match that followed. Very fun/wild crowd and a fond memory. https://t.co/LtzIUIktdq

The week following this promo, Cody competed in his final match in AEW: a ladder match for the TNT Championship against Sammy Guevara, the same opponent who Cody had faced in the very first match in AEW Dynamite history back in 2019.
Despite being two years removed from his time in the company, Cody recently reunited with many of his former co-workers for a special birthday celebration of Brodie Lee Jr.
