Top AEW star and WWE Hall of Famer Adam Copeland has explained why two-time TNT Champion Christian Cage is such a good heel.
In 2023, Christian Cage experienced a career renaissance with his “Father of the Year” character and becoming a two-time AEW TNT Champion.
Now the leader of the Patriarchy stable with Killswitch, Nick and Shanna Wayne, Cage has cemented himself as one of the most dastardly heels in all of wrestling.
In a new interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Christian’s former tag team partner and real life best friend Adam Copeland explained why Christian Cage is such a good heel. He said:
“He does this so well because he wants to be one. Somewhere along the way, that’s got lost. Heels became cooler than the babyface. That’s not how it should be.”
“That’s not how he sees it, either. I mean, the man wears a cut-off turtleneck. There’s nothing cool about what he’s doing.”
“He’s fully committed to it. He’s a Bond villain and loving it. It’s fun to be involved with.”
Christian Cage last wrestled in a win over Dustin Rhodes to retain the TNT Championship on the January 17 episode of AEW Dynamite.
Meanwhile, Copeland has been competing more regularly, last defeating Minoru Suzuki in the main event of the January 24 edition of AEW Dynamite.
Copeland and Christian remain embroiled in an ongoing rivalry on AEW programming.
