The AEW TNT Championship will be defended by Adam Copeland for the first time on the upcoming episode of Collision.

Copeland’s first defense of the title will be an open challenge on the March 30 episode of AEW Collision in London, Ontario, Canada.
He announced that the Cope Open Challenge would be making a return with the title on the line during comments after the I Quite Match on this week’s AEW Dynamite.

Speaking about his victory over Christian Cage and the end of a 40-year story, Adam Copeland revealed:
“That 40-year story, it’s closed. It’s time to move on. It’s time for me to face some different faces. It’s time for me to defend this TNT Championship.
“I want to be the type of champion who, if you think you deserve a shot, fine – step up. Right now, I’m sore, I’m a bloody mess, but I’ve got the TNT Championship.

“So I tell you what, Collision, London – the Cope Open’s back. So anybody who wants to step up, feel free.
“There’s more at stake now too. There’s this TNT Championship. And I don’t plan on losing it anytime soon.
“So I wish you luck. And London, see you soon.”

In January 2024, Copeland revealed to Sports Illustrated that the Cope Open originated from his desire to do a “fascinating side story” to use as “a vehicle for some young guys to get some different experience.”
Since the inception of the challenge, he has faced the likes of Dante Martin, Lee Moriarty and Griff Garrison, but also took on Minoru Suzuki.
March 30, 2024, is the date of the next episode of AEW Collision, with TNT covering the NCAA basketball tournament this Saturday.
Elsewhere on the show, Matt Taven & Mike Bennett will take on “The Infantry” (Shawn Dean & Carlie Bravo) in the AEW Tag Team Championship Tournament Quarter Finals.
