A top AEW star has discussed the possibility of Becky Lynch joining the company amid her WWE contract expiration.
Becky competed on her final match of her current WWE contract on this week’s Raw show, where she lost her Women’s World Championship rematch to Liv Morgan in a Steel Cage main event.
With Becky’s deal set to expire on Saturday, she will become a free agent, with speculation that she could join AEW with fellow Four Horsewoman Mercedes Mone.
Speaking to TMZ Sports, current FTW Champion Chris Jericho spoke about Becky’s contract expiration, and how AEW’s existence benefits wrestlers that now have another option.
He said:
“Five years ago, Becky would have no other options. Not saying that she’s coming [to AEW], but there is an option. And who knows what could happen?
“No one thought that Jericho would come to AEW. No one thought that Moxley would come or Bryan Danielson or Adam Cole or any of these guys that have come over. So it’s exciting for the fans. And it’s exciting for the wrestlers, the talent, because now suddenly if there’s a bidding war, that just benefits [us wrestlers].”
