A former WWE Champion’s contract is said to be due to expire soon after a period of absence from television.

Jeff Hardy was last seen on AEW Rampage in February 2024 losing to Sammy Guevara in a No Disqualification match.
During the match, Hardy suffered a concussion, and Guevara was suspended for not following concussion protocol.
With Matt Hardy’s AEW contract having expired on April 1, 2024, it was reported that Jeff Hardy remains under AEW contract, but Fightful’s latest update was that it was “set to expire sometime in the Spring”.

Matt Hardy has now provided an update on his brother’s status on his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, saying:
“He’s been cleared. He’s just sitting at home, waiting on the call.
“Unlike me, he’s not someone who really gets out and makes things happen, he just kind of waits on someone to call him.

“He’s sitting at home just waiting on that phone call, jumping on the trampoline up and down with the dumbbells.
“But yeah, he’s got till like mid-June or so I think, and then his deal’s up.
“So I guess we’ll see if he ends up re-signing or not re-signing. Who knows?”

Jeff Hardy made his AEW debut in September 2022 after being released by WWE in December 2021.
After his AEW departure, Matt Hardy has been working in TNA Wrestling and has spoken highly of his time there so far.
